Winnie Adhiambo Apiyo, born around 1987, is an electrical engineer from Kenya. She works as a Protection, Instrumentation and Control Engineer at the Kenya Electricity Generating Company. Education and Early Life
Winnie Apiyo was born in Kenya around 1987. She studied at Tver State University in Tver, Russia. In 2010, she earned a Bachelor of Engineering degree. Her studies focused on electric and electronic engineering.
She also has a special diploma in Geothermal Technology. She got this from the Iceland Energy Authority. This was part of a six-month program with the United Nations University. She learned a lot about how geothermal energy works and how to manage it. She finished this program in 2016.
As of early 2019, Winnie Apiyo is studying for her Master of Science degree. She is at the Iceland School of Energy at Reykjavik University. Her master's degree is in Sustainable Energy Engineering. This means she is learning about energy sources that are good for the planet.
Her Work as an Engineer
Winnie Apiyo works as an electrical engineer for the Kenya Electricity Generating Company. Her main job is to plan, test, and manage power stations that use geothermal energy. Geothermal energy comes from the heat inside the Earth.

Winnie Apiyo has received important awards for her work. In September 2018, a Kenyan newspaper called Business Daily Africa recognized her. They named her one of the "Top 40 Under 40 Women in Kenya in 2018." This award celebrates successful young women in the country.
In December 2017, she won the "2017 Women in Energy Innovation Award." This award was given at a conference in Nairobi, Kenya's capital city. She received it for her project called "Automatic Blockage of Grid Energy Back Feed Project." This project showed her innovative ideas in energy.
