Where is Witter Springs?
Witter Springs is located about 3 miles (5 km) northwest of a town called Upper Lake. It sits at an elevation of about 1,663 feet (507 meters) above sea level. You can find it on the west side of Bachelor Valley. This area is part of the Scotts Creek watershed, which means water from here flows into Scotts Creek.
The Story of Witter Springs
The natural springs at Witter Springs were found in 1870. Soon after, a resort was built there, offering a place for people to relax and enjoy the water.
The area had a post office for a while. The first one, called Witter's Springs, was open from 1873 to 1880. Later, a new post office named Witter opened in 1901. Its name changed to Witter Springs in 1913.
Around 1909, water from the Witter Medical Springs was even bottled and sold to people. Today, the ZIP code for Witter Springs is 95493.
