Meet the Teams
Who Played?
The show had three unique teams: the Flying Pigs, the Chilli Rockets, and the Sofa Giraffes. Each team had a CBBC presenter working with a child. This child stayed on the team for a whole week. Even the host, Ed Petrie, had a child helper who was his "assistant" for the week.
How the Game Worked
Show Rounds
Every episode of Wonderful World Of Weird had three exciting rounds. One round involved finding interesting things for something called the "Map of Weird." Another round was known as the "Random Word Round." Fun fact: on the very first show, the random word chosen was "word"!
Scoring and Winners
After all the rounds were finished, the studio audience got to decide the winner. They would move and stand next to the team they thought should win. Ed Petrie would then count the people around each team. The scores were shown in a funny way: numbers on pairs of pants hanging on a washing line. The color of the pants matched the team's colors.
Weekly Challenges
On Fridays, each team got a new topic chosen randomly. This topic would be their focus for the entire next week. The last round on Friday was called "Week's Weirdest Wonder." In this round, each team picked their favorite presentation from that week to show again.
Prizes and Endings
The winning team of each show received a funny prize, like a stick of celery or a flowery hat. The show always ended with Ed saying, "It's not over til..." He would then add an action, like "...until the audience sit down." Once the audience did the action, the show was officially over!
Show Music
The catchy theme tune for Wonderful World Of Weird was created by Martin Medina. He has also composed music for other TV shows, including Rip Off Britain and Short Change.
