What Woocoo Looks Like

Woocoo is a place with three main valleys. These valleys are separated by hills. It's a mix of flat areas and higher ground.

Valleys and Creeks

One valley is in the south-west. It has a creek called Munna Creek, which forms the western edge of Woocoo. You can reach this valley by Glenbar Road.

Two other valleys are more in the middle of Woocoo. You can get to them using Ellerslie Road, which comes from the north.

Natural Areas

A special part of Woocoo is the Woocoo National Park. This park is in the north-west. It's a protected area for nature.

There's also a large part of the St Mary State Forest in the north-east. Inside this forest, you'll find Mount Woocoo. This mountain is 240 metres (about 787 feet) tall.

Land Use

The flat parts of the valleys are used for small farms. The hillier areas are mostly untouched. They remain natural and undeveloped.

A Look at Woocoo's Past

The name Woocoo likely comes from Mount Woocoo. People think the mountain's name is a changed version of the Kabi word woocoon. This word means echidna, which is a spiny Australian animal.
