History of the Factory
The Worksop Factory has been making food for a long time. It's an important part of the local area.
Building the Factory
In 1969, a lot of money was put into building a new section of the factory. This new part was planned to open in 1971. A local politician, Joe Ashton, helped start the building work. This expansion created about 300 new jobs for people in the area.
What the Factory Makes
The Worksop Factory is a busy place that produces many well-known food items. They use special cardboard for their food tubs, which comes from a company in Chesterfield.
Oxo Cubes
Did you know that Oxo cubes, which are used to make delicious broths and gravies, are made here? Production of Oxo moved to Worksop in 1992. Before that, they were made in a different factory in Lancashire.
Gravy and Salt
The factory also makes famous products like Bisto gravy. Bisto helps make meals extra tasty! Another product made here is Saxa salt, which is used in kitchens everywhere. These products used to be made in a different town called Middlewich until 2008.
Food Sauces
Since 1995, the Worksop Factory has been making popular food sauces. This includes Ragú sauce and Chicken Tonight. These were the first times these sauces were made in the UK! You might remember seeing lots of TV advertisements for them.

The Worksop Factory has even been featured on TV! It was shown on BBC Two in August 2018, giving people a peek inside how their favorite foods are made.
