The Story of Wyrd Sisters
This six-episode comedy series follows the book's story very closely. It's all about three special witches who live in a magical world.
Meet the Witches
- Granny Weatherwax: She is the leader of the group. Granny is a very powerful and wise witch.
- Nanny Ogg: She is a fun-loving witch and has a huge family. Nanny Ogg also owns the world's most mischievous cat, named Greebo.
- Magrat Garlick: The youngest witch of the three. Magrat loves wearing magical jewelry, even if it doesn't always work!
A Kingdom in Trouble
The story begins when King Verence I of Lancre is unfairly removed from his throne by his cousin, Duke Felmet. A loyal servant manages to save the King's crown and a baby, bringing them to the three witches for safekeeping.
The witches decide to give the crown and the baby to a group of traveling actors. They believe that destiny will take its course. They know the baby, named Tomjon, will grow up to become the true king and defeat Duke Felmet one day.
Time Jumps and Tricky Plans
However, the people of Lancre are very unhappy with Duke Felmet. They don't want to wait 18 years for Tomjon to grow up. So, the witches use their magic to speed up time for the kingdom.
Meanwhile, Duke Felmet wants to make himself look good. He decides to have a play written and performed that praises him. He sends his court jester to a big city called Ankh-Morpork. The jester's job is to find the same group of traveling actors that Tomjon is now with.
There's just one problem: Tomjon, who is now grown up, doesn't actually want to be king!
