Yōsuke Kashiwagi (born December 15, 1987) is a Japanese former professional footballer. He was known for playing as a central midfielder. Kashiwagi had a long and successful career, playing for several top clubs in Japan and representing his country on the national team.

Playing for Football Clubs

Yōsuke Kashiwagi started his professional career with Sanfrecce Hiroshima. He played for them from 2006 to 2009. During his time there, he helped the team win the J.League Division 2 championship in 2008.

Time with Urawa Red Diamonds

After leaving Sanfrecce Hiroshima, Kashiwagi joined Urawa Red Diamonds in 2010. This was a very important part of his career. He played for the Reds for over a decade, until 2021. With Urawa Red Diamonds, he achieved some major victories.

Big Wins with the Reds

Kashiwagi helped Urawa Red Diamonds win the 2016 J.League Cup. He also played a key role when they won the 2017 AFC Champions League, which is a huge tournament for Asian clubs. In 2018, he added another trophy, the Emperor's Cup, to his collection with the team.

Later Career and Retirement

After his successful time with Urawa Red Diamonds, Kashiwagi moved to FC Gifu in 2021. He played for FC Gifu until 2023. At the end of the 2023 J3 League season, Yōsuke Kashiwagi announced that he was retiring from professional football.

Playing for Japan's National Team

Yōsuke Kashiwagi also represented Japan in international football. He played for different age-group teams before joining the senior national team.

Youth National Teams

In July 2007, Kashiwagi was part of the Japan national U-20 team. He played in the 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup. He wore the number 10 jersey and was a starting player in all four matches. He played as an offensive midfielder, helping his team.

Senior National Team Debut

In January 2010, Kashiwagi was called up to the Japan national team. He joined them for the qualifiers of the 2011 AFC Asian Cup. He made his first appearance for the senior team against Yemen on January 6, 2011.
