Yahl is a small community, often called a hamlet or tiny township. It is located about 7 kilometres southeast of Mount Gambier in South Australia. Even though it's small, Yahl has an interesting history and some special buildings.

Yahl is a place with a long history. Long before European settlers arrived, the land around Yahl was home to the Bungandidj people. They are the traditional owners of this area.

The name "Yahl" comes from the language of the Aboriginal people. It means "waters, much water." This name tells us that the area likely had plenty of water sources, which were important for life.
