Early Life
Yafeu Fula was born in the Bronx, New York City, on October 9, 1977. His parents were Sekou Odinga and Yaasmyn Fula. When he was four years old, his father was not present in his life. Yafeu was raised by his mother and used her last name, Fula.
Kadafi's mother, Yaasmyn Fula, was good friends with Tupac Shakur's mother, Afeni Shakur. Because of this, Kadafi and Tupac grew up as close friends. They remained friends until their deaths in 1996. Kadafi had two daughters.
Music Career
In 1994, Yafeu Fula met his childhood friend Mutah "Napoleon" Beale again. Yafeu's mother, Yaasmyn Fula, introduced Napoleon to Tupac Shakur. The three of them then formed a music group called Dramacydal. Yafeu was only 16 at the time and used the stage name "Young Hollywood." The group appeared on Tupac's album Me Against the World.
In 1995, after Tupac was released from prison, Kadafi joined him to sign with Death Row Records. He was a guest artist on Tupac's album All Eyez on Me. He was featured on three songs from that album. The Outlawz, including Kadafi, recorded many songs with Tupac throughout 1996.
Kadafi also worked with another Outlawz member, Hussein Fatal. They recorded music together under the name "Fatal-N-Felony."
On September 13, 1996, Tupac died after being shot. This happened in a drive-by shooting near the Las Vegas Strip on September 7. Kadafi was in the car right behind Tupac's car. He said he saw a white car pull up next to Tupac's car and start shooting.
Passing Away
On November 10, 1996, Yafeu Fula was shot and died in Orange, New Jersey. He was 19 years old. Another rapper from the Outlawz, Napoleon, said that his cousin, Rashad "Roddy" Beale, was responsible. Napoleon stated in an interview that Beale called the shooting an accident. Beale turned himself in to the police and served time in prison. Fula's mother, however, said that his death was not an accident. She claimed that Beale had threatened Fula before, and that Beale's family had also threatened people who saw what happened. Fula is buried at Glendale Cemetery, Bloomfield.
