Yankee Hill is a small community in Butte County, California. It is not a city but an unincorporated community. This means it is not governed by its own local city government. Yankee Hill is located about 6.5 miles (10.5 km) east-southeast of Paradise. It sits at an elevation of 1,982 feet (604 meters) above sea level. In 2020, about 260 people lived there.

History of Yankee Hill
Yankee Hill has had a few different names over the years.
Early Settlement and Name Changes
The area was first settled in 1850. It was originally known as Rich Gulch. This name likely came from the gold mining activities happening at the time.
In the 1850s, miners from Chile and Spain arrived. Because of these new settlers, the place was renamed Spanishtown. This name reflected the new cultural influences in the community.
Later, people from New England came to live in the area. They gave the community its current name, Yankee Hill. This name has stuck ever since.
Post Office Services
A post office first opened in Yankee Hill in 1858. It served the community for many years, until 1951. Even though that original post office closed, there is still a modern post office. It operates inside the Pines Hardware Store on Miller Flat Road in Yankee Hill.
