The Yapacana National Park, also called Cerro Yapacana National Park, is a special protected area in the South American country of Venezuela. It was officially made a national park on December 12, 1978, by President Carlos Andres Perez. This park is located in the Amazonas state, where the Ventuari River flows into the mighty Orinoco River.

Why Yapacana Park is Important

The main goal of Yapacana National Park is to protect its amazing natural beauty and scientific treasures. It has unique plants that show how vegetation has changed over a very long time. These plants connect to ancient plant life from both old and new tropical regions.

Where is Yapacana Park?

Yapacana National Park is found in the southwestern part of the Guayana Shield. This is a large, ancient landmass in the central-western area of the Amazonas state. The park is located between the Orinoco River to the south and the Ventuari River to the north. The Yagua River is to its west.

Yapacana Hill: A Special Mountain

A key part of the park is the Yapacana hill itself. This hill is a type of flat-topped mountain called a "tepuy." It is part of the Roraima formation, which is known for its unique geology and stunning landscapes.
