About Yashira Jordán
Yashira Jordán directed the film Durazno. This movie was special because it was one of the first films in Bolivia and Argentina to use a method called crowdfunding. This means many people helped pay for the film. What's even more interesting is that the movie used everyday items like garbage and recycled materials to build its sets and create its story.
Her Journey in Film
In 2004, Yashira traveled to different cities like New York City, Washington, D.C., and Mexico City. She spent time learning from American and Mexican filmmakers in various workshops. During this period, she also made some short experimental videos. These short films were even shown at international festivals, like the 48 Hour Film Festival in Washington, D.C.
Studying Film
In 2005, Yashira started studying audiovisual communication. She attended the Universidad Nacional de La Plata in Argentina. Her hard work paid off in 2007 when she was chosen for a special program called Talent Campus. This program was organized by the Universidad del Cine. It gave her a chance to show her work at the 9th BAFICI (Buenos Aires International Independent Film Festival).
International Recognition
Yashira's talent was recognized worldwide. In February 2008, her work was picked from over 3,000 entries for the Berlin International Film Festival. This is a very famous film festival! She attended the festival's Talent Campus section. There, she got to listen to and learn from many famous filmmakers. Some of these well-known people included Mike Leigh, Lucrecia Martel, Wim Wenders, and Alejandro Jodorowsky.
