Yasser Saeed Mosleh Abdulrahman Al-Qahtani (born 10 October 1982) is a famous former Saudi Arabian footballer. He played as a forward, which means he was a player who mainly tried to score goals. He spent most of his career playing for Al-Hilal FC in the Saudi Professional League. Yasser Al-Qahtani was also the captain of the Saudi Arabia national team. He is known as one of the best Saudi Arabian footballers of his time.

Playing for Clubs

Joining Al-Hilal

In 2005, Yasser Al-Qahtani made a big move to Al-Hilal from Al-Qadisiyah. This transfer cost about £2.5 million, which was a lot of money for a player at that time.

Becoming Asia's Best

After helping Saudi Arabia reach the final of the 2007 AFC Asian Cup, Yasser Al-Qahtani was recognized as one of the best players. He was one of the top goal scorers in the tournament. Because of his great performance, he won the Asian Footballer of the Year award. This award is given to the best football player in Asia.

Loan to Al Ain

In 2011, Yasser Al-Qahtani faced some challenges. He had injuries and was not playing as much for Al-Hilal. So, he joined United Arab Emirates club Al Ain for one season on a loan. A loan means he played for Al Ain temporarily before returning to his main club.

While at Al Ain, he helped the team win their first league title since 2004. He scored 7 goals in 15 league games and a total of 12 goals in 26 games across all competitions. This time helped him get back into great form. After his loan ended, he returned to Al-Hilal.

AFC Champions League Final

After returning to Al-Hilal, Yasser Al-Qahtani continued to play well. In 2014, he helped Al-Hilal reach the final of the 2014 AFC Champions League. This is a very important tournament for clubs in Asia. His team finished as runners-up, losing to Western Sydney Wanderers by a score of 1–0 over two games.

Playing for His Country

2006 FIFA World Cup

Yasser Al-Qahtani played for the Saudi Arabia national team in the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany. This is one of the biggest football tournaments in the world. He scored a goal in a match against Tunisia.

2007 AFC Asian Cup

At the 2007 AFC Asian Cup, Yasser Al-Qahtani was a key player for Saudi Arabia. The team reached the final of the tournament. Yasser Al-Qahtani was also the top goal scorer of the entire tournament, showing his amazing skills.

World Cup Qualification

Yasser Al-Qahtani also played in the qualification games for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Unfortunately, Saudi Arabia did not qualify for the World Cup that year. They needed to win their last game against North Korea in Riyadh, but the match ended in a draw (0-0).
