After finishing high school, Yasuyuki Konno started his professional football journey. He joined Consadole Sapporo in 2001. He played for this team for three seasons. During his time there, he appeared in 65 league games. In 2003, the team moved down to the J2 League. Konno played one year in J2 before moving to a new club.
Success with FC Tokyo
In 2004, Konno joined FC Tokyo. He played for them for eight seasons. He was a key player, appearing in over 250 league matches. With FC Tokyo, he helped the team win the J.League Cup twice, in 2004 and 2009. In his last season with the club in 2011, they won the J2 League and the Emperor's Cup.

The year 2014 was even better for Gamba Osaka. They returned to Japan's top league and won a "domestic treble." This means they won three major trophies: the J1 League, the J.League Cup, and the Emperor's Cup. Konno played 46 games that year and scored two goals. He formed a strong midfield partnership with Yasuhito Endō, another famous Japanese player.

He faced some injuries in 2017 and 2018, which kept him off the field for a while. When he returned from injury in 2018, Gamba Osaka went on a nine-match winning streak. They moved from the relegation zone to a safe 9th place in the league.
