Yevgeniya Andreyevna Polyakova (Russian: Евгения Андреевна Полякова) (born May 29, 1983) is a talented Russian sprinter. She is known for running very fast in short races, especially the 100 metres. Yevgeniya was born in Moscow, Russia.

Her Olympic Journey
Yevgeniya Polyakova represented Russia at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. She competed in the 100 metres sprint. In her first race, she finished first with a time of 11.24 seconds. This helped her move on to the next round.
She ran even faster in the second round, finishing in 11.13 seconds. She came in second place in that race. This great performance allowed her to qualify for the semi-finals. However, in the semi-finals, her time of 11.38 seconds was not fast enough. She did not make it to the final race.
Yevgeniya also competed in the 4 × 100 metres relay race. She teamed up with Aleksandra Fedoriva, Yulia Gushchina, and Yuliya Chermoshanskaya. In their first race, they finished second, right behind the team from Jamaica. Their team's time was 42.87 seconds, which was the second fastest overall.
This strong performance qualified them for the final race. In the final, they ran even faster, finishing in 42.31 seconds. They crossed the finish line first and won the gold medal! The Jamaican team did not finish the race due to a mistake.
A Change in Medal Status
In August 2016, there was a change regarding the gold medal from the 2008 Olympics. Yevgeniya and her three teammates had their Olympic gold medal taken away. This happened because one of her teammates, Yuliya Chermoshanskaya, had a rule violation. This means she broke the rules of fair competition.
