Yohei Nishibe (西部 洋平, Nishibe Yohei, born 1 December 1980) is a Japanese football player. He plays as a goalkeeper for Shimizu S-Pulse.

Yohei Nishibe's Football Journey

Yohei Nishibe was born in Kobe, Japan, on December 1, 1980. After finishing high school, he started his professional football career in 1999. He joined Urawa Reds, a club in the top Japanese league, J1 League.

Starting with Urawa Reds

In 2000, Urawa Reds moved down to the J2 League. Yohei Nishibe made his first professional appearance on April 12, 2000, in a 2000 J.League Cup match against Kawasaki Frontale. His team lost that game 0–3.

Later that year, on October 7, he played his first game in the J2 League. He then played in all of the last seven matches of the 2000 season. Urawa Reds finished second that season and moved back up to the J1 League in 2001.

In 2001, Yohei Nishibe competed with another goalkeeper, Tomoyasu Ando, for a spot on the team. He played in many games that year. However, from the middle of 2002, he played less often, as Norihiro Yamagishi became the main goalkeeper.

Moving to Kashima Antlers

In June 2003, Yohei Nishibe moved to Kashima Antlers. But he did not get to play in any matches there. The team's main goalkeeper was Hitoshi Sogahata.

Success with Shimizu S-Pulse

In 2004, Nishibe joined Shimizu S-Pulse. This was a big change for him! He quickly became the team's regular goalkeeper and played in many games for several years.

During his time with S-Pulse, the team achieved some great results. They finished second in the 2005 Emperor's Cup, the 2008 J.League Cup, and the 2010 Emperor's Cup. These are important tournaments in Japanese football.

Time with Shonan Bellmare

In 2011, Yohei Nishibe moved to Shonan Bellmare. This club had just moved down to the J2 League. He played as the main goalkeeper for Bellmare. However, the team did not have a good season and finished in 14th place.

Playing for Kawasaki Frontale

In 2012, Nishibe returned to the J1 League, joining Kawasaki Frontale. He often shared the goalkeeper position with Rikihiro Sugiyama and played in many matches until 2014. In 2015, he had fewer chances to play, as Shota Arai became the preferred goalkeeper.

Returning to Shimizu S-Pulse

In 2016, Yohei Nishibe went back to Shimizu S-Pulse. This was six years after he first left the club. S-Pulse had also just moved down to the J2 League when he rejoined them. He continued his career with the team, showing his dedication to football.
