Yoshiyuki Kobayashi (小林 慶行, Kobayashi Yoshiyuki, born January 27, 1978) is a Japanese football manager and a former professional football player. He is currently the manager of J2 League club JEF United Chiba. His brother, Ryo Kobayashi, also used to be a football player.

Playing Career: A Midfielder's Journey
Yoshiyuki Kobayashi was born in Saitama, Japan, on January 27, 1978. He started his professional football journey in 1999.
Early Days at Tokyo Verdy
While still a student at Komazawa University, Kobayashi joined the J1 League club Verdy Kawasaki. This team later became known as Tokyo Verdy. In his very first season, he quickly became a regular player. He played as a defensive midfielder, helping to protect his team's goal.
During his time with Tokyo Verdy, the team achieved some great wins. They won the 2004 Emperor's Cup and the 2005 Japanese Super Cup. However, in 2005, Tokyo Verdy was moved down from the J1 League. This marked the end of Kobayashi's time with the club.
Moving to Omiya Ardija
At the start of the 2006 season, Kobayashi joined Omiya Ardija. Here, he often played as a central or defensive midfielder. He was a very important player for the team and sometimes even served as the team's captain. By 2009, he started playing less often.
Later Clubs and Retirement
In June 2009, Kobayashi moved to Kashiwa Reysol. Then, in January 2010, he signed with Albirex Niigata. He played in many matches for Albirex Niigata until 2011. In 2012, he played less, and at the end of that year, he decided to retire from playing professional football. He had a long and successful career that lasted 14 years.
Coaching and Managerial Career
After retiring as a player, Yoshiyuki Kobayashi began a new chapter in his football career: coaching.
Starting as a Coach
In June 2014, Kobayashi started coaching at Vegalta Sendai. He worked there as a coach until 2019. In 2021, he joined JEF United Chiba as a coach. He then moved up to become the head coach for the team in 2022.
Becoming a Manager
On November 1, 2022, Yoshiyuki Kobayashi was appointed as the manager of JEF United Chiba. He officially started this role for the 2023 season and continues to lead the team today. As a manager, he is responsible for training the players, choosing the team for matches, and deciding on the team's strategies.
