About Young Bleed
Young Bleed began rapping when he was just nine years old. He grew up in South Baton Rouge, Louisiana. His mother helped him love words by reading poetry to him. He was also inspired by the music group Run-DMC.
As a teenager, Young Bleed started recording his own raps. He sold his hip-hop tapes to friends in his neighborhood. Soon, a local record label noticed his talent and signed him. In 1995, he joined a group called Concentration Camp. He is still part of this group today.
His Music Career
Young Bleed first became known across the country with his song "How You Do That." This song was remixed by Master P from No Limit Records. It was part of the soundtrack for Master P's movie I'm Bout It in 1997. The soundtrack became very popular, reaching number one on the Billboard R&B/Hip Hop charts.
With Master P's help, Young Bleed signed a deal with Priority Records. He then released his first major album, My Balls & My Word, in 1998. This album was a huge success! It reached number ten on the Billboard 200 and number one on the Top R&B/Hip Hop charts. It even sold enough copies to become "gold" and then "platinum" in the U.S. This means it sold over a million copies!
His next album, My Own, came out in 2000. It also appeared on the Billboard charts, but it wasn't as big as his first album. After this, Young Bleed decided to work as an independent artist. He joined C-Bo's West Coast Mafia Records. With them, he released Rise Thru da Ranks from Earner Tugh Capo in 2005 and Once Upon a Time in Amedica in 2007.
In 2008, Young Bleed released Off Tha Curb. This album was a team-up with another rapper named Freize. Later, in 2011, he signed with Strange Lane Records. His album Preserved came out that year. He later left Strange Music and announced a new album called All Amedican, but it has not been released yet.
In 2016, Young Bleed shared that he was working on new music. His album, Livin', was released in 2017. In 2018, he announced another album, Wut' Uh' Life. This was his second project released under his own company, Trap Door Entertainment.
