Early Life and Music
Young Bleed began his journey into music at a young age. He started rhyming when he was just 9 years old, right at home in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. His mother played a big role, inspiring him by reading poetry. He also loved the music of the famous group Run-DMC.
As a teenager, Young Bleed started recording his own rhymes. He would share his hip-hop tapes with friends in his neighborhood. Soon, his talent was noticed, and he signed with a local record company. In 1995, he teamed up with other artists from Baton Rouge. They formed a music group called Concentration Camp. He remained a part of this group for many years.
Music Career Highlights
Rise to Fame
Young Bleed first gained national attention with his song “How You Do That.” A famous artist named Master P helped remix the song. It was featured on a movie soundtrack in 1997. This song became very popular, reaching the top of the R&B/Hip Hop music charts.
With Master P's support, Young Bleed signed with Priority Records. He released his first major album, My Balls and My Word, in 1998. This album was a huge success! It reached number one on the Top R&B/Hip Hop charts. It also sold so many copies that it earned "gold" and then "platinum" status in the U.S. This means it sold over a million copies.
His next album, My Own, also did well on the music charts. However, it did not become as big a hit as his first album.
Independent Music and New Labels
Later, Young Bleed decided to work as an independent artist. This meant he released music without a big record company. He joined C-Bo's West Coast Mafia Records. With them, he released albums like Rise Thru da Ranks from Earner Tugh Capo in 2005. He also released Once Upon a Time in Amedica in 2007.
In 2008, he released Off Tha Curb. This was a special album he made with another rapper named Freize.
In 2011, Young Bleed signed with Strange Lane Records. This company was part of Strange Music. He released the album Preserved with them. After a short time, he moved to another record label. He continued to work on new music.
His album Livin' came out in 2017. In 2018, he announced another album, Wut' Uh' Life. He released this project through his own company, Trap Door Entertainment.
