Time at West Bromwich Albion
In January 2009, Mulumbu went to train with Premier League team West Bromwich Albion. On 2 February 2009, he joined them on a loan deal. This meant he would play for them for a short time, with a chance to join permanently later.
His first time at West Brom was tough because of injuries. He finally played his first Premier League game in April. He signed a permanent contract with West Brom on 10 July 2009 for about £175,000.
He became a very important player for West Brom. Both the club and the fans chose him as their Player of the Year at the end of the season. He signed new contracts to stay with the club until 2015.
On 15 March 2014, Mulumbu scored a very important goal for West Brom. It was the winning goal in a 2–1 game against Swansea City. This win was the first for their new coach, Pepe Mel.
Moving to Norwich City
In June 2015, Mulumbu joined Norwich City for free. Norwich City had just been promoted to the Premier League.
Soon after joining, Mulumbu broke a bone in his foot during a friendly game. This meant he needed surgery and missed the start of the season. He finally played his first game for Norwich on 27 October in a League Cup match. He made his Premier League debut a few days later.
However, he did not play many games for Norwich. Other players were chosen more often in midfield. Norwich was relegated back to the Championship at the end of the season.
Mulumbu stayed with Norwich for the 2016–17 season, but still did not get to play much. His last game for Norwich was in February 2017. In May, it was announced that he would leave Norwich when his contract ended.
