Learning Welsh at Ysgol Ardudwy
Ysgol Ardudwy is a special school when it comes to languages. The Welsh Government calls it a Category 2A school. This means that most subjects, like science or history, are taught in Welsh. About 80% of lessons (not including English and Welsh classes) are taught only in Welsh.
Sometimes, one or two subjects might be taught in English or in both languages. This helps all students learn and use Welsh. In December 2018, about 34% of students came from homes where Welsh was spoken. However, a much larger number, 89% of the students, could speak Welsh very well. This shows how well the school helps students become fluent in Welsh.
