It was started in 1961. Ysgol Maes Garmon is the only Welsh-medium high school in Flintshire. The school shares some of its buildings and sports areas with Alun School.

Learning Welsh at Ysgol Maes Garmon

Even though it's a Welsh-medium school, Ysgol Maes Garmon helps students who don't speak Welsh yet. They have a special program called an "immersion programme." This program helps students from English-speaking primary schools learn Welsh quickly. The school is very active in supporting Welsh-medium education across Wales.
