Yulia Sergeevna Peresild (Russian: Юлия Сергеевна Пересильд; born on September 5, 1984) is a talented Russian actress and singer. She is also known for being a cosmonaut, which means she has traveled to space!
Yulia is a main actress at the Malaya Bronnaya Theatre. She made history by being part of a special project called The Challenge: The First in Space. During this project, she filmed parts of a movie called The Challenge while actually in outer space. This made her the first professional actress to act in space after her trip to the ISS (International Space Station) in October 2021. She is also the fifth Russian woman to travel into space and the second to live and work on the ISS.

Early Life and Education
Yulia Peresild was born in Pskov, a city in what was then the Soviet Union. Her father was an artist who painted icons, and her mother worked at a kindergarten. Her last name, Peresild, comes from her great-grandparents who were from Estonia.
In 2001, Yulia finished high school in Pskov. After that, she started studying Russian language at the Pskov State Pedagogical Institute. However, after just one year, she decided to follow her dream of acting. She moved to Moscow and got into a theater university.
In 2006, she graduated from the Russian Academy of Theatre Arts. She studied acting and directing there.
Since 2007, Yulia has been a guest actress at the State Theatre of Nations. She also works with other theaters in Moscow, like the Moscow Theater "School of the Modern Play" and the Malaya Bronnaya Theatre.
Acting Career Highlights

Yulia Peresild started her acting career in 2003. Her very first role was Natasha Kublakova in a TV series called Land
.She got her first big movie roles in 2006. She played Olya Rodyashina in the drama film The Bride and Nastya in Captive (2008). Both films were directed by Alexei Uchitel.
Yulia became even more famous for her main role as Sofia in the movie The Edge (2010). She also starred in the TV series Santa Lucia (2012) and the mystery thriller Sonnentau (2012).
She also had important supporting roles in films like In the Fog (2012). A very well-known role was when she played the famous Soviet sniper Lyudmila Pavlichenko in the 2015 war movie Battle for Sevastopol.
Filming a Movie in Space
Yulia Peresild was chosen for a very special mission: to film a movie in space! She was part of the crew for the Soyuz MS-19 spacecraft. It launched on October 5, 2021. She went to space with director Klim Shipenko to shoot scenes for the movie The Challenge.
Yulia was chosen from a group of 20 actresses. Her name was announced on May 14, 2021. After spending time in space, she returned to Earth on October 17, 2021, aboard the Soyuz MS-18 spacecraft. This made her the first actress to film a movie in outer space!
Personal Life
Yulia Peresild has two children. She was married to Alexei Uchitel from 2008 to 2021. In 2022, Yulia shared that she was in a relationship with actor Mikhail Troynik. They got married in 2023.
Yulia is also a founder of a charity organization called Galchonok (Russian: Галчонок). This charity helps children who have problems with their central nervous system.
