A Special Story
Yunquera de Henares has a special connection to a religious story. The town has a church called the Parish of San Pedro Apóstol. It also has a small chapel known as the Hermitage of the Farm. Inside this chapel, there is a special image of the Virgin Mary. She is known as "Our Lady of the Farm."
The story of "Our Lady of the Farm" is very old. The first written record of it dates back to at least 1658. The tale says that a local shepherd was looking after his sheep. He saw an image of the Virgin Mary, and she spoke to him.
The shepherd told the people in the town about what he saw. They came to see the image of the Lady. Then, they brought the image back to the village. The story also says that many sick people in Yunquera became well after seeing the image. This made the image very important to the town.
