Yuri Sardarov's Early Life

Yuri Sardarov has a mixed background. He is half-Georgian and half-Armenian. When he was two years old, his family moved to the United States. They came as refugees. Both his parents and grandparents were musicians.

Yuri was named after his grandfather, whom he is very close to. They even have matching tattoos written in Cyrillic letters. Because his grandfather's name was "Yuri," Sardarov started spelling his own name with an extra "y" at the end. This helped people tell them apart. He also has a younger brother named Nick. Nick is eleven years younger than Yuri.

Sardarov went to Glenbrook North High School near Chicago. He started there in his junior year and finished in 2006. In 2010, he earned a special degree in Theatre Performance. He got this degree from the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance. While at college, he was part of a fraternity.
