Yusuf Kenan Sönmez (born 1948 – died April 3, 2020) was a politician from Turkey. He was known for his work in both business and government.

Yusuf Kenan Sönmez was born in 1948 in Zonguldak, Turkey. He studied at the Istanbul Academy of Economics and Commercial Sciences. There, he focused on business and accounting. After finishing his studies, he worked as a manager in private companies. He also ran his own business.
His Time in Politics
In 1987, Yusuf Kenan Sönmez became a member of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. This is like the parliament or main law-making body of Turkey. He was elected to represent the city of Istanbul for the Social Democratic Populist Party.
Later, he also worked with the Republican People's Party. He was a deputy chairman for Istanbul and a delegate for the party's big meetings. He also helped start the Edremit Central District Agricultural Development Cooperative. This group helps farmers in the Edremit area.
His Final Days
In March 2020, Yusuf Kenan Sönmez became sick with COVID-19. He received treatment at Balıkesir State Hospital. Sadly, he passed away on April 3, 2020, at the age of 72. His death was caused by problems from COVID-19.
