Yvrac facts for kids
Yvrac is a small town, also known as a commune, located in the region called Aquitaine. It's part of the Gironde department in the southwest of France.
What Happened to the Chateau?
In 2012, something surprising happened near Yvrac. A very old and large chateau, which is a type of castle or grand country house from the 1700s, was accidentally destroyed. Builders were supposed to take down a smaller building nearby. Then, they were going to start fixing up the chateau.
Why Was the Chateau Destroyed?
It seems there was a mistake in the plans or during the work. Instead of the small building, the beautiful 18th-century chateau was torn down by accident.
What Will Happen Next?
The owner of the chateau, a businessman from Russia, said he plans to have the house rebuilt. This means a new chateau will be built in its place, hopefully looking just like the old one.
