The Kangaroo Fern or Hound's Tongue is a cool type of fern. Its scientific name is Zealandia pustulata. It also has another scientific name, a synonym, which is Microsorum pustulatum. In the Māori language, people call it kōwaowao or pāraharaha. This fern belongs to a plant family called Polypodiaceae.
Where Does the Kangaroo Fern Live?
This special fern grows in many places. You can find it widely across New Zealand. It also lives in parts of Australia, including Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, and Tasmania. For example, in the North Island of New Zealand, it often grows alongside other types of ferns.
