Zil-e-Huma (Urdu: ظلِ ھُمہ) was a talented singer from Pakistan. She was born on February 26, 1944, and passed away on May 16, 2014. Her mother was the very famous singer, Noor Jehan.

Early Life and Family

Zil-e-Huma was born in Lahore, Pakistan, in 1944. She was the youngest child of the famous singer Noor Jehan and filmmaker Syed Shaukat Hussain Rizvi. She had two older brothers, Akbar Rizvi and Asghar Rizvi.

When Zil-e-Huma was a child, her parents separated. Her father received their family's film studio, Shahnoor Studios, as part of the divorce agreement.

Music Career

Zil-e-Huma grew up in Karachi with her mother. She loved singing and music very much. However, her mother, Noor Jehan, did not want her to train in music when she was young.

In the early 1990s, Zil-e-Huma decided to become a professional singer. She began to formally study music with Ghulam Mohammed, who was also her mother's teacher. She once said that learning music at her age was not easy, but she was determined to keep learning. Zil-e-Huma often sang her mother's popular film songs on Pakistan Television.

Personal Life

When she was young, Zil-e-Huma married a jeweler named Aqeel Butt. They had four sons: Mohammad Ali Butt, Ahmed Ali Butt, Mustafa Ali Butt, and Hamza Ali Butt. Her son, Ahmed Ali Butt, is a well-known singer and actor. Later, Zil-e-Huma and her husband divorced, and she decided to focus on her singing career.

Later Years

Zil-e-Huma passed away on May 16, 2014, in a Lahore hospital. She was 70 years old.
