Zirl is a charming market town located in the Tyrol region of Austria. It's part of the Innsbruck-Land district. You can find Zirl about 10 kilometers (or about 6 miles) west of Innsbruck. It sits at the bottom of a mountain pass that goes up the side of the Zirler Berg. This pass eventually leads to places like Seefeld and even to Germany.

Zirl is nestled in a beautiful part of Austria. Its location has always been important for travel and trade. The town was first mentioned in old documents way back in the year 799. Back then, it was known by names like "Cyreolu" and "Cyreola." This shows that Zirl has a very long and interesting history.
Over the years, Zirl has faced some challenges. It was damaged several times by floods and fires. Despite these difficulties, the number of people living in Zirl has grown quite a lot in recent years. In 1984, Zirl was given the special status of a "Market town."
