About Zoran Modli
Zoran Modli was born in Zemun, which is now part of Belgrade, Serbia. Even early in his career, he showed his talent for writing. In 1972, he wrote the lyrics for a song called "U tami disko kluba" for the rock band YU grupa.
Radio Star: Ventilator 202
Modli's radio show, Ventilator 202, became famous for helping new music bands. It was one of the first places where many popular Yugoslav bands shared their first songs. These were called demo recordings. Bands like EKV, Partibrejkers, and Rex Ilusivii became very popular after being featured on his show. Zoran Modli hosted Ventilator 202 until 1987.
New Shows and Technology
In the 1990s, Zoran Modli hosted another successful radio show called Modulacije. After 2000, he started a show called ZAIR, which stands for Zakon akcije i reakcije (Law of Action and Reaction). This show was all about new technologies. It was broadcast on many radio stations across Serbia.
Modli was also a talented writer. He created many commercials and was an expert in new inventions and computer science. He even had a personal website that was recognized as one of the best in Serbia by a computer magazine called PC Press.
Flying High: Zoran the Pilot
Besides his radio work, Zoran Modli was a professional pilot for more than 30 years! For 20 years, he flew a Boeing 727 for the state airline, Jat Airways. Later, he moved to a private airline company called Prince Aviation.
A Pilot's Important Lesson
On July 15, 2010, Modli was flying a Cessna Citation II plane when it had a landing accident. This happened at the Bol Airport in Croatia. The plane went off the runway and caught fire. Luckily, all the passengers were safe and not hurt.
After this event, Modli decided to leave his job as a pilot. He felt that the landing mistake was his own. He even wrote about this flight in detail in the first chapter of his book, "Pilot Book" (published in 2012). He wanted to teach young pilots an important lesson: never think you are too good to make a mistake. He hoped his story would help them avoid similar errors.
