Ángeles González-Sinde Reig (born 7 April 1965) is a Spanish scriptwriter, film director, and politician. She served as the Minister of Culture for the Spanish government. This role lasted from April 2009 to December 2011. During her time as minister, some people on the internet disagreed with her views. This was because she was against sharing files online without permission. Also, some felt she had close ties to the film industry. A law passed in December 2011 to protect creators' rights is often called the "Sinde Law." This is because she was a main supporter of it.

About Ángeles González-Sinde

Ángeles González-Sinde Reig was born on April 7, 1965. Her father, José María González-Sinde, Sr., founded an important film academy. Her brother, José María González-Sinde, Jr., also works in the film world.

Her Education and Early Career

González-Sinde studied Classics at the Complutense University of Madrid. Later, she earned a master's degree in Cinema Scriptwriting. She studied at the AFI Conservatory in Los Angeles, USA.

Before becoming a minister, she led a major film organization. She was president of the Academia de las Artes y las Ciencias Cinematográficas de España (AACCE). This is the Spanish Academy of Arts and Cinematographic Sciences. She held this position from December 2006 to April 2009.

Becoming Minister of Culture

In April 2009, Ángeles González-Sinde became the Minister of Culture. This decision caused some discussion among Spanish internet users. Groups like the Asociacion de Internautas (Internet Users Association) shared their concerns.

They worried that her personal connections to film businesses might make it hard for her to be fair. They felt there could be a "conflict of interest." This means her personal ties might affect her decisions as a government official.

In June 2020, she was chosen for another important role. She became the president of the Royal Board of Trustees for the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía. This is a famous art museum. This position, like the vice-president role held by Beatriz Corredor, is unpaid.
