Älvsbyn Municipality (which in Swedish is Älvsbyns kommun) is a local area run by a council in northern Sweden. It is located in Norrbotten County. The main town and administrative center of the municipality is Älvsbyn.
This municipality has kept its original size since it was first created in 1863. For a while, between 1948 and 1968, a part of it was a separate market town. But in 1969, these parts joined back together.

Geography of Älvsbyn
The municipality stretches along the Pite River. This river flows for about 60 kilometers through a very beautiful natural area.

Economy and Local Businesses
Älvsbyn is home to some important businesses. Two of the biggest are AB Älvsbyhus and Polarbageriet AB.
AB Älvsbyhus: Building Homes
Älvsbyhus is a company that builds houses. Their main office and one of their factories are in Älvsbyn. This company is the largest maker of prefabricated homes in wood in all of Scandinavia. They build about two houses every day. They also have other factories closer to where their customers are.
Polarbageriet AB: Famous Bread
Polarbageriet is a bakery famous across Sweden for its special flatbreads. They make about 1.5 million breads every day! These breads are not like regular loaves. They are flat, whitish slices. Most of their bread is sold in Sweden. However, they also export a small amount to other countries. These include Finland, Denmark, the United Kingdom, Germany, and France. People in these countries often use the bread to make homemade pizza.
RFN: Military Testing Site
RFN is a special government facility. It is used for military testing. This place is unique because it's one of the few spots where real missiles can be tested over land. Because of this, military groups from other countries also come here to do their tests.
Tourism and Nature
Tourism is also important in Älvsbyn. A very popular place to visit is the nature reserve called Storforsen. It is located just west of the town of Vidsel. Storforsen is known for its powerful rapids and beautiful natural scenery.
