Édgar Filiberto Ramírez Arellano is a talented actor from Venezuela. He was born on March 25, 1977.
Before becoming a famous actor, Édgar studied communications. He even thought about becoming a diplomat, which is someone who represents their country in other nations. However, after a filmmaker praised a short film he made, Édgar decided to follow his passion for acting.
He has played many exciting roles in movies and TV shows. For example, he was a CIA agent in The Bourne Ultimatum (2007). He also played the famous historical figure Carlos the Jackal in the TV series Carlos (2010). This role won him a special award called the César Award for Most Promising Actor. He was also nominated for a Golden Globe and an Emmy Award for his amazing performance.
Later, he played a CIA operative in Zero Dark Thirty (2012) and the legendary boxer Roberto Durán in Hands of Stone (2016). Édgar Ramírez was born in San Cristóbal, Táchira, Venezuela. His mother, Soday Arellano, was an attorney, and his father, Filiberto Ramírez, was a military officer. He has a sister named Nataly.
Because his father's job involved traveling, Édgar spent parts of his childhood in different countries. This helped him learn many languages. He can speak Spanish, English, French, Italian, and German very well!
In 1999, Édgar graduated from the Andrés Bello Catholic University in Caracas. He earned a degree in mass communication, focusing on audiovisual communications. He was interested in international relations and even worked as a journalist, reporting on politics. He also helped lead a foundation called Dale al Voto, which created campaigns for radio and TV.
