Club History
How the Club Started
The two original clubs, 1. FC Bamberg and TSV Eintracht Bamberg, first talked about joining in 2005. Those first talks didn't work out. But in January 2006, the members of TSV Eintracht finally agreed to the merger. The members of FC Bamberg also agreed in March of that year.
Early Football Seasons
The new club, FC Eintracht Bamberg, took over FC Bamberg's spot in the Bayernliga. This was a fourth-tier league at the time. In their first season, they finished in a surprisingly good 5th place. The next year, they aimed for a top-four finish. This would have allowed them to move up to the Regionalliga Süd. They finished 5th again, but still got promoted. This was because two other teams had financial problems or couldn't get a license.
Challenges and Restart
In the 2008–09 season, the club finished in the middle of the Regionalliga table. But at the end of the 2009–10 season, the club faced financial difficulties and had to close down. However, a new club was immediately formed. It was called FC Eintracht Bamberg 2010. This new club started playing in the Bayernliga for the 2010–11 season.
Recent Years
At the end of the 2011–12 season, the club finished well in the Bayernliga. This meant they qualified for the new fourth-tier league, the Regionalliga Bayern. They played there for two seasons, finishing 13th and 10th. In the 2014–15 season, they finished last and were moved down to the Bayernliga. The next season, they finished last again and were moved down to the Landesliga. In March 2016, the club again faced financial problems.
Home Stadium
FC Eintracht Bamberg plays its home games at the Fuchs-Park-Stadion. This stadium was also the home of FC Bamberg before the clubs merged. The stadium first opened in 1926. It was made bigger in 1938 to hold 22,600 fans. The most people ever at the stadium was 27,000. This happened during a game between Germany and France on May 2, 1964.
