The 14th Cortes Generales is like the main parliament or law-making body of Spain. It's where elected representatives meet to discuss and create laws for the country. This particular meeting, the 14th one, started after a big election on November 10, 2019. The members first gathered on December 3, 2019. According to Spain's rules, this group of lawmakers can serve for a maximum of four years.

How Members Were Chosen
The election that decided who would be part of the 14th Cortes Generales happened on November 10, 2019. This was the 14th election since Spain's current rulebook, the 1978 Constitution, was put in place.
After the votes were counted, the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) won the most seats in both parts of the Cortes Generales:
- The Senate, which is like the upper house.
- The Congress of Deputies, which is like the lower house.
Even though the PSOE won the most seats, they didn't win enough to have a complete majority on their own. This meant they needed to work with other parties to form a government.
