The 1865 United Kingdom general election in Ireland was a big event in July 1865. This election was special because it was the first time the new Liberal Party took part. In Ireland, the Liberals won more seats than before.
This success in Ireland helped the Liberals win more seats across the whole United Kingdom. The Liberal Party, led by Viscount Palmerston, stayed in power. Sadly, Palmerston passed away later that year. Earl Russell then became the new prime minister.
