Regular Season Fun
During the regular season, all 30 teams played 82 games each. These games helped decide which teams would get a chance to play for the Stanley Cup. Teams earned points for winning games, and the teams with the most points moved on to the playoffs. The Vancouver Canucks won the Presidents' Trophy for having the best record in the regular season.
Exciting Playoff Games
The 2012 Stanley Cup playoffs were a series of intense games. Teams battled it out in best-of-seven series. This means a team had to win four games to move on to the next round. The playoffs are known for their high energy and dramatic finishes.
The Stanley Cup Champions
The final series was for the Stanley Cup. It was played between the Los Angeles Kings and the New Jersey Devils. The Kings played incredibly well and won the championship. A Team Moves Home
Before the season started, something big happened. The Atlanta Thrashers team moved to a new city. They relocated to Winnipeg, Manitoba, in Canada. There, they became a brand new team called the Winnipeg Jets. This was an exciting change for hockey fans in Winnipeg!
