Roman Empire Updates
In 209 AD, a young man named Publius Septimius Geta received special titles from his father, Emperor Septimius Severus. These titles were Imperator and Augustus. An Imperator was a powerful military leader, and Augustus was a title given to Roman emperors, showing their high rank and power. This meant Geta was now officially a co-ruler with his father and brother.
Emperor Septimius Severus had big plans for the Roman Empire. He wanted to expand its territory north of what we now call Scotland. The Roman army marched far north, reaching an area near modern-day Aberdeen. However, the local people, known as the Scottish tribes, did not want the Romans there. They started a type of fighting called guerrilla warfare. This means they used surprise attacks and quick raids instead of large, open battles, making it very hard for the Roman army to control the land.
