225 Liberty Street, once known as Two World Financial Center, is a very tall building, also called a skyscraper. It is located in New York City, in an area of Manhattan known as the Financial District. This building is the second tallest of four main buildings in a large group called Brookfield Place.
The building stands 645 feet (197 meters) tall. This makes it one of the tallest buildings in New York City. Its roof is shaped like a dome. This is different from a nearby building, 200 Vesey Street, which has a pyramid-shaped roof. The building was designed by the same architects who designed One Canada Square in London.

What's Inside 225 Liberty Street?
Many different companies have offices in 225 Liberty Street. Some of these include Meredith, BNY Mellon, and Hudson's Bay Company. Other companies like Commerzbank, Fiserv, and State Street Corporation also have offices here.
The building is an example of a design style called postmodern architecture. It was designed by Cesar Pelli & Associates. Inside, there is a huge amount of space for offices, over 2.4 million square feet.
Connecting to Brookfield Place
225 Liberty Street is connected to the rest of the Brookfield Place complex. You can walk through a courtyard to reach the Winter Garden. This is a beautiful public space made of glass and steel. It has a very high, vaulted ceiling, about 120 feet tall.
Inside the Winter Garden, you can find many trees and plants. There are even sixteen large palm trees, each 12 meters tall, that came all the way from the Mojave Desert.
Location and Name Change
Even though the building's official address is on Liberty Street, its most visible side faces West Street. It is located between Liberty and Vesey Streets.
The building used to be called Two World Financial Center. In 2014, the entire complex was renamed Brookfield Place. At that time, this building also got its new name, 225 Liberty Street.
Repairs and Safety Incidents
On September 11, 2001, the World Trade Center towers collapsed. This caused a lot of damage to 225 Liberty Street and other nearby buildings. The building had to close for repairs. It was closed from September 11, 2001, until May 2002.
Later, on April 12, 2012, there was a safety concern at the building. A "suspicious package" was delivered, which led to people leaving the building as a safety measure. The New York City Police Department (NYPD) quickly checked the package. They found that it was harmless and there was no danger.
