On July 3, a major battle happened near a city called Adrianople. Emperor Constantine the Great fought against his rival, Licinius. Constantine won this battle. Licinius and his army had to retreat to Byzantium. After this victory, Constantine's forces, including some Visigoths, moved into the area of Thrace. They explored and took supplies from the countryside.

The Battle of Hellespont

Later in July, another important fight took place. This was a naval battle, meaning it happened at sea. Constantine's son, Crispus, led his father's navy. Crispus destroyed Licinius's fleet in the Dardanelles, which is a narrow waterway. This victory was very important because it weakened Licinius's power even more.

The Battle of Chrysopolis

On September 18, the final big battle happened at a place called Chrysopolis. Again, Constantine I faced Licinius. Constantine won this battle too. With this victory, Constantine became the only Emperor of the entire Roman Empire.
