Building History
Early Days and Design
The 901 Fifth Avenue building was designed by a company called John Graham and Associates. They are famous for creating many important buildings. When it first opened in 1973, it was known as the Bank of California Building.
For many years, it was also called the Union Bank of California Building. Its address was 900 Fourth Avenue until July 2007.
Name Change and Modern Updates
The building's name changed to 901 Fifth Avenue after it was sold by Beacon Capital Partners to Kennedy Wilson Inc. of Beverly Hills. This new name matches its current address.
In 2007, the building got a big update! It was renovated to be more eco-friendly. It even earned a special award called "LEED Certified Silver status." This means it's very good at saving energy and water, which is great for the environment. It's quite rare for older buildings to get this kind of award.
New Owners
In 2016, two companies, Schnitzer West and Investcorp, bought the building. Schnitzer West is also known for developing another nearby building called Madison Centre.
