His Journey to Filmmaking
Alejandro Daniel Calvo was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. When he was four, his family moved to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Later, in 1974, they moved again to the United States.
Calvo showed an early interest in making films and writing screenplays. His work caught the attention of some important people. These included Oscar-nominated producers Howard and Karen Baldwin. Also, Grammy-winning musician Michael Bolton supported his early efforts.
These three people became executive producers for his first big movie. It was called The Other Side of the Tracks. This romantic thriller was filmed in Connecticut during the summer of 2007. The TV network Showtime later bought the rights to show it.

After his first film, Calvo continued to direct and produce. He has made five more feature films. These include The Melancholy Fantastic, House of Dust, and The Midnight Game.
His film The Missing Girl was chosen for the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival. Another one of his movies is Sweet, Sweet Lonely Girl.
