Early Life and High School Years
A. J. Davis Jr. was born in Indianapolis, Indiana. His father was a basketball player for the Indiana Pacers at the time. Because of his father's career, A. J. moved around a lot. Eventually, his family settled in Atlanta after his father retired.
A. J. started high school at Greater Atlanta Christian School. There, he helped his team, the Spartans, win two state championships in a row. These were titles from the Georgia High School Association (GHSA). Before his junior year, he moved to Buford High School.
College Basketball Career
A. J. Davis Jr. played college basketball for two different universities. He started at Tennessee and then transferred to UCF.
Playing for Tennessee
Davis began his college basketball journey at the University of Tennessee. As a freshman, he played in 25 games. He averaged 1.3 points and 1.6 rebounds per game. After his first year, he decided to transfer to the University of Central Florida.
Playing for UCF
After transferring, A. J. had to sit out one season. This was due to NCAA transfer rules. He then played for the UCF Knights for three seasons. In his final year, he was a "redshirt senior." This means he had spent an extra year in college. He played in 33 games and started all of them. He averaged 12.2 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. His rebounding was the third best in his conference. He also averaged 2.2 assists per game. For his great play, he was named honorable mention All-American Athletic Conference.
During his college career, A. J. scored a total of 1,030 points. He scored 33 points at Tennessee and 997 points at UCF. He also became one of UCF's top rebounders. He finished 8th in UCF history with 633 rebounds. He was also 7th with 319 free throws made. After his senior season, he took part in the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament. This is a special event for college players hoping to go pro.
Professional Basketball Journey
After college, A. J. Davis Jr. began his professional basketball career. He has played for many teams around the world.
Starting in Prishtina
On September 5, 2018, Davis signed with KB Prishtina. This team plays in the Kosovo Basketball Superleague. In nine games there, he averaged 8.3 points and 5.7 rebounds. He also played in the 2018–19 FIBA Europe Cup and 2018–19 Basketball Champions League.
Time with Brisbane Bullets
On January 4, 2019, A. J. joined the Brisbane Bullets. This team is part of Australia's NBL. He played in 12 games for them. He averaged 3.8 points and 1.8 rebounds.
Playing for Delaware Blue Coats

A. J. Davis Jr. comes from a family of basketball players. His father is Antonio Davis, who was an NBA All-Star. A. J. also has a twin sister named Kaela Davis. She is also a professional basketball player. Kaela currently plays for the Dallas Wings in the WNBA.
