Abba-Zaba is a chewy taffy candy bar. It has a sweet taffy outside and a creamy peanut butter center. The Annabelle Candy Company makes this treat in Hayward, California.

The Story of Abba-Zaba

Early Days of the Candy Bar

The first Abba-Zaba bars were made a long time ago, in 1922. A company called Colby and McDermott first created them. Over the years, the candy bar's wrapper has changed its look. The Annabelle Candy Company says the current yellow and black checkerboard design has been used since the 1950s.

Later, the Cardinet Candy Company started making Abba-Zaba. They also made another popular candy bar called the U-No Bar. In 1978, the Annabelle Candy Company bought the Cardinet Candy Company. Now, Annabelle makes both Abba-Zaba and U-No bars, along with other candies.

Where to Find Abba-Zaba

Abba-Zaba bars are mostly found in the western parts of the United States. You can often spot them west of the Rockies. The wrapper has a cool yellow and black checkerboard pattern. This design looks a bit like a taxi cab. You can also buy these candy bars in large amounts online. Many candy specialty stores across the US and Canada also sell them.

New Flavors and Varieties

In 2005, Annabelle Candy Company introduced a new flavor. They made an apple-flavored taffy version of Abba-Zaba. There is also a newer bar available today. This one has chocolate taffy and a mix of chocolate spread and peanut butter inside.
