Myra Abigail Pratt (born Pankhurst, later Daria, Princess Karageorgevich, March 21, 1859 – June 26, 1938) was an American golfer. She is famous for winning a bronze medal in golf at the 1900 Summer Olympics in Paris. Through her third marriage, she also became a princess of the House of Karađorđević.

Early Life and Family Background

Myra Abigail Pankhurst was born on March 21, 1859. Her parents were Maria Louise Coates and John Foster Pankhurst. Her father was an important businessman in Cleveland, Ohio. He was the vice-president of Globe Iron Works Company. He also co-owned the American Ship Building Company.

Olympic Golf Success

Abbie Pratt loved playing golf. She often traveled to Europe. She was a member of the Dinard Golf Club in France.

In 1900, Abbie Pratt competed in the 1900 Summer Olympics in Paris. She played in the women's golf competition. This was a 9-hole stroke play tournament. Abbie played very well and finished third. She won the bronze medal for the United States. Her score was 53.

Life as a Princess

Abbie Pratt married Prince Alexis Karageorgevich on June 11, 1913. The wedding took place in Paris, France. Prince Alexis was a member of the royal family of Serbia. After her marriage, Abbie took the royal name Daria. She became known as Her Highness Princess Daria Karageorgevich.

The couple spent their honeymoon in the South of France. Then, they traveled to New York, Abbie's home city. This was Prince Alexis's first visit to the U.S. in 14 years.

Supporting the War Effort

During the First World War, Princess Daria and Prince Alexis went to Serbia. They wanted to help their country during the war. When the capital city of Niš was taken by enemy forces, they had to leave. They joined a large group of people retreating through the mountains. They traveled through Montenegro and Albania in the winter of 1915. They finally arrived in Rome on Christmas Eve 1915.

Prince Alexis passed away in St. Moritz, Switzerland, in 1920. Princess Daria lived until June 26, 1938. She died in Cannes, France.
