Abbotsbury is a suburb in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It is located about 39 kilometers west of the main Sydney central business district. This area is part of the Greater Western Sydney region. It belongs to the City of Fairfield local government area.

Most of the homes in Abbotsbury were built in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Some newer areas were developed in the early 2010s. A line of pine trees marks the western edge of the suburb. These trees help give privacy to the houses near the farmlands.

What's the History of Abbotsbury?

Abbotsbury got its name from Major Edward Abbott. He was a soldier from Canada who came to New South Wales in 1790. In 1806, Major Abbott was given land in this area. He later sold it to William Browne in 1810.

The land stayed mostly the same until the late 1800s. Then, it was divided into smaller farms. It remained a rural area until the early 1980s. That's when work began to build houses. The name "Abbotsbury" for the suburb was officially approved in 1984.
