Abel Federico Pintos (born on May 11, 1984) is a famous Argentine singer and songwriter. He began his music career when he was only 13 years old. His first album was called Para cantar he nacido (which means "I Was Born To Sing"). A well-known musician named León Gieco helped him financially with this first album.

After releasing four more albums, Abel started writing his own songs. These new songs showed a change from his earlier folk music style. He became very popular with his album La llave (The Key). His CD and DVD Sueño dorado (Golden Dream) celebrated his fifteen years in music. This album was his best-selling record in 2012. Abel Pintos is seen as a rising star in Argentine folk music, just like other famous artists such as Soledad Pastorutti and Luciano Pereyra.

He won the Gold Gardel prize for his successful CD and DVD Sueño Dorado.

About Abel Pintos

Early Life and First Album (1984–1998)

Abel Federico Pintos was born in Bahía Blanca, Buenos Aires Province, Argentina, on May 11, 1984. He grew up in Cutral Có, Neuquén Province. Abel started singing at age 7. He was chosen to sing at a school event honoring José de San Martín. A local government official heard him and was very impressed. This official invited Abel to sing at another event.

At this event, Abel sang three songs by famous artists. After that performance, people started to notice his talent. His early career got a big boost from some lucky chances. A tango singer named Raúl Lavié heard Abel sing. Abel gave him a demo tape of his songs. Lavié then passed the tape to Pity Iñurrigarro, who was a producer for León Gieco. Iñurrigarro helped Abel get a record deal with Sony Music.

Abel then went to Buenos Aires. There, he met León Gieco, who supported him and helped produce his first album. This album was titled Para cantar he nacido ("I Was Born To Sing"). He recorded it in March 1998. The album included 18 cover songs by popular artists. The main song from the album was "Para cantar he nacido." This song won him awards at Argentina's biggest folk music festivals.

At the 38th Cosquín Festival, Abel Pintos got to perform three times. This festival is very important for folk music. His performances were very well received by the audience. The festival organizers invited him to perform two more times. He received a "special mention" and the Gold Award from the festival. This award is given to new, promising artists.

Growing Popularity and New Albums (1998–2003)

After his first album's success, Abel Pintos started working on his second album. It was called Todos los días un poco (A Little Bit Everyday). He wanted to add his own style to classic songs. This album was released in March 1999. It featured songs by artists like Horacio Guarany and Atahualpa Yupanqui. The main song, "Ojos de cielo" (Eyes of the Heavens), was recorded with a choir. His brother, father, and other musicians played with him.

In the summer of 2000, Abel performed at several big festivals. These included the 2000 Cosquín Festival and the Jesús María Festival. He released Cosas del corazón (Things of the Heart) on December 19, 2001. This album included collaborations with musicians like Domingo Cura. It was produced by Martín Carrizo.

Cosas del corazón did not sell as well as Abel had hoped. This was mainly because it was released just before a big economic crisis in Argentina in December 2001. Abel Pintos still considers it one of his best albums. It was the first album where he mixed different music styles. These included Central American music, Argentine folk, and rock music. From this album on, Abel started to create his own unique musical style.

Sentidos and Sueño Dorado (2003–2013)

By the end of 2003, Abel Pintos took a break from music. He then returned to the studio to record his own songs. This showed his growth as an artist. In April 2005, pianist Alfredo "Fredy" Hernández joined his band.

In 2004, Pintos released Sentidos (Meanings). This album felt like a fresh start for him. It was his first album in three years. It was also his first album released with a major record label, Sony BMG. In February 2004, he performed at the Viña del Mar International Song Festival in Chile. He competed with the song "Bailando con tu sombra (Alelí)." He won the "Gaviotas de Plata" (Silver Seagull) award. This is the top award at the festival, winning for both the song and his performance.

Abel's 2005 album, Reflejo real (Real Reflection), showed his move towards a more personal songwriting style. This album built on the creative ideas from his previous albums.

On July 10, 2012, Pintos released Sueño Dorado (Golden Dream). This was a CD/DVD collection of his greatest hits. It featured songs from his 15-year career. In less than a week, Sueño Dorado became a Gold record. After seven months, it reached Double Platinum status. The first song released from the album was "Cactus." This was a cover of a song by Gustavo Cerati. The DVD was recorded live in Quilmes. This is a village with ancient Native American ruins in Tucumán province. The concert took place at dawn, as the sun rose.

Abel and Recent Works (2013–present)

Abel Pintos' 2013 album, simply titled Abel, was very popular with both critics and fans. The first song from the album, "Aquí te espero" (I'm Waiting For You Here), came out on October 9, 2013. It quickly became a Triple-Platinum hit in less than a month.

Abel explained why he named the album after himself: "I've included music beyond any specific genres. I've included songs that touch upon my own feelings. At the same time, in every song, I've put in ideas, emotions, and experiences that life has given me. That's why the title of this album is, and always will be, my own name: ABEL."

Since then, Abel Pintos has continued to release new music and tour. His albums Único (2015) and 11 (2017) have also been very successful. In 2018, he released a live album called La familia festeja fuerte. This album captured his exciting "11 World Tour" concert in Buenos Aires. Abel Pintos remains one of Argentina's most beloved and respected musicians.
