About Abel Pintos
Early Life and First Album (1984–1998)
Abel Federico Pintos was born in Bahía Blanca, Buenos Aires Province, on May 11, 1984. He grew up in Cutral Có, Neuquén Province. His musical journey started when he was only 7 years old. He was chosen to sing at a school event. Someone from the local government heard him and was very impressed. They invited him to sing at another event.
At this event, Abel sang three songs by famous artists. People started to notice his amazing voice. A famous tango singer, Raúl Lavié, heard Abel sing and passed his demo tape to a music producer. This led to Abel getting a record deal with Sony Music.
Abel then moved to Buenos Aires. There, León Gieco helped him produce his first album. This album, Para cantar he nacido, was released in 1998. It had 18 cover songs by popular folk artists. The main song, also called "Para cantar he nacido," won awards at big folk music festivals in Argentina. Abel later said that making this first album was full of excitement and new experiences.
In 1998, Abel Pintos performed three times at the 38th Cosquín Festival, a very important folk music event. He sang songs from his first album. His performances were a big success. He even sang a duet with León Gieco. The festival organizers invited him back to perform more. He received a special award for new artists from the Argentine Society of Authors and Songwriters (SADAIC). He also won the Gold Award of the Cosquín Festival.
Growing Fame and New Music (1998–2003)
In 1998, Abel Pintos performed at a big show in Buenos Aires. He shared the stage with León Gieco again. After his first album's success, Abel started working on his second album, Todos los días un poco (A Little Bit Everyday). He wanted to add his own style to classic songs. This album was released in March 1999. It included famous songs like "Ojos de cielo" (Eyes of the Heavens). He recorded this song with the Kennedy Chorus of Buenos Aires. His brother, father, and other musicians played with him.
In 2000, Abel Pintos performed at many big festivals across Argentina. These included the Cosquín Festival and the Jesús María Festival. On December 19, 2001, he released his third album, Cosas del corazón (Things of the Heart). He worked with talented musicians like Domingo Cura. This album was special because it mixed different music styles. It had influences from Central American music, Argentine folk, and rock. This album helped Abel start to create his own unique sound.
New Beginnings and Sueño Dorado (2003–2013)

After a short break, Abel Pintos returned to the studio in 2003. He wanted to record his own songs and show how much he had grown as an artist. In 2004, he released Sentidos (Meanings). This album was a fresh start for him. It was his first album with a major record label, Sony BMG.
In February 2004, Abel performed at the Viña del Mar International Song Festival in Chile. He sang "Bailando con tu sombra (Alelí)" (Dancing With Your Shadow). This song won him two top awards: the "Gaviotas de Plata" (Silver Seagull) for the Winning Song and for the Best Performer.
His 2005 album, Reflejo real (Real Reflection), showed his growth as a songwriter. It had a more personal and complex style.
On July 10, 2012, Abel Pintos released Sueño Dorado (Golden Dream). This was a special CD/DVD that collected his best songs from 15 years in music. It quickly became a huge success. In less than a week, it reached Gold status. After seven months, it became Double Platinum. The first song from the album was "Cactus," a cover of a song by Gustavo Cerati. The DVD was recorded live in Quilmes, a place with ancient Native American ruins in Tucumán province. The concert took place at dawn, as the sun rose over the beautiful landscape.
The Album Abel (2013–Present)
Abel Pintos released his album Abel in 2013. Fans and critics loved it. The first song from the album, "Aquí te espero" (I'm Waiting For You Here), was released on October 9, 2013. It quickly became Triple-Platinum. Abel explained why he named the album after himself: "I included music beyond any specific styles. I included songs that show my own feelings. In every song, I put ideas, emotions, and experiences that life has given me. That's why this album is, and always will be, my own name: ABEL."
