Adam Burish's Hockey Journey
Adam Burish was chosen by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. This is like a special lottery where professional teams pick young players to join their clubs.
College Hockey Star
Before joining the NHL, Adam played college hockey at the University of Wisconsin. He studied Economics there. He was even the captain of his team in the 2005–06 season. That year, his team won the national championship! Adam helped his team win by assisting on both goals in their 2-1 victory.
Making it to the NHL
Adam scored his first goal in the NHL on January 22, 2008. Two seasons later, he achieved a huge dream for any hockey player: he won the Stanley Cup with the Chicago Blackhawks. The Stanley Cup is one of the oldest and most famous trophies in sports.

Moving to New Teams
On July 1, 2010, Adam left the Blackhawks and joined the Dallas Stars. He played with them for two years. After that, on July 1, 2012, he signed a four-year deal with the San Jose Sharks. This was exciting because he got to play with his old college teammate, Joe Pavelski, again!
Dealing with Injuries and Changes
Adam had surgery on his back in October 2013 because of an injury. Later, in the 2014–15 season, he was sent to play with a different team, the Worcester Sharks, which was a smaller team connected to the San Jose Sharks. He also played for the Chicago Wolves that season. In June 2015, his contract with the Sharks ended.
Playing Overseas
After his time in the NHL, Adam decided to play hockey in Europe. For the 2015–16 season, he played for two teams in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL): the Växjö Lakers and the Malmö Redhawks. He left the Redhawks in 2016 after playing only a few games.

After retiring from playing, Adam Burish started a new career in media.
Becoming a Sports Analyst
In 2017, Adam joined NBC Sports Chicago. He became an analyst, which means he helps explain hockey games and shares his opinions during pre-game and post-game shows for the Chicago Blackhawks.

Adam has a younger sister named Nikki Burish. She also played hockey for the University of Wisconsin. It's pretty cool because both Adam and Nikki won their national championships in the same year, 2006!
