Adam Svoboda (born January 26, 1978 – died May 7, 2019) was a famous ice hockey goalie and coach from the Czech Republic. He was known for his skills as a goaltender in many different leagues.
Playing for Clubs
Adam Svoboda started his professional ice hockey journey with HC Sparta Praha in the 1996-97 season. He played in 25 games for them. After that, he spent several years playing for HC Pardubice.
In 2004, he moved to Germany to play for the Nürnberg Ice Tigers. He also played for teams in Russia and Sweden for a short time. He then returned to the Czech Extraliga league in 2006.
Adam won his first big championship, the Extraliga title, in 2008 with HC Slavia Praha. Five years later, he won another title with HC Škoda Plzeň. He stopped playing hockey professionally in 2017 when he was 39 years old. His last season was spent playing in Kazakhstan.
Playing for His Country
Adam Svoboda was an important part of the Czech national team. He played in four different IIHF World Championships.
He helped his team win a gold medal in 2005. The very next year, in 2006, he won a silver medal with the team. Throughout his career, he also played for his country in other international tournaments, like the Euro Hockey Tour.
