History of Adams City
Adams City was started in 1903. The people who planned it hoped it would become the main town, or "county seat," for Adams County. The county seat is where the county government offices are located. But in 1904, another town called Brighton was chosen instead. So, Adams City was left empty in 1922.
Years later, in 1946 and 1947, a new school system was created. It was called Adams County School District 14. Around that time, Adams City started to be built up again. On July 8, 1952, people living in the area voted. They decided to create a new town called Commerce Town. This town later became Commerce City. The southern part of Adams City became part of this new town.
